Professional Experience: |
I have a wide experience in international affairs, having worked for the EU, the UN and in think-tanks. As a practitioner, in 2010-2013, I was based at the European Commission (EC) dealing with transatlantic relations and international negotiations with the US and Canada, while being part of the related EU negotiation and policy coordination teams. This experience enabled me to work on high-level policy development, analysis and advice and has enhanced my understanding of diplomacy. At EC, I have also gained policy coordination experience, including by representing the unit and coordinating the EU position at international events. I have further supported the work of senior management/ European Commissioners by coordinating and/ or contributing input to briefings and writing speaking points and defensives, whether for public appearances, bilateral negotiations or intergovernmental contacts. Previously, I worked as a researcher/ consultant for the EU Committee of the Regions (CoR) while based at the aforementioned Institute for European Studies. In this context, I have provided support to policy development to the external affairs commission of the CoR: first on issues of democratisation and good governance in Eastern Europe and the South Caucasus, and second, on the involvement of regional and local actors within the Northern Dimension policy, a joint policy between the EU, Russia, Norway and Iceland in the Arctic region. The time I spent working with the United Nations University - Institute for Comparative Regional Integration Studies (UNU-CRIS) deepened my understanding of international affairs and world regional integration. Earlier in my career, I have gained experience of programme management working at EC on programmes that support the fight against organised crime and counter-terrorism.
