Area of Expertise:
  • Agriculture, Livelihoods, Microfinance, Rural
  • Environment, Climate, Energy, Water, Sanitation
  • Human Rights, Law, Migration, Conflicts, Justice
  • Monitoring, Evaluation, Policy, Research, Analysis
Professional Experience:
My current post at UNOG has allowed me to gain experience in various stages of the documentation process, including planning and forecasting of translation services, coordination of assignments to staff, and serving as a staff representative in discussions with management about optimizing the documentation process. I am an expert in UN house style and have completed extensive training courses.

During my time at the UN, I have also served as an assistant to a senior official, which included the organization of a high-level budgetary meeting and front office administrative tasks. I have served as an assistant to the Appeals Tribunal, acting as a liaison between the visiting judges and conference services. My first post at the UN was as a Press Intern, covering the bi-weekly press briefings and important events, such as the release of the Goldstone Report on Israel/Palestine and the 2008 food crisis.

Before my time at the UN, I worked as the coordinating editor for a publication with over 30 contributions from different authors. I also acted as the first-line editor for content, style and grammar and contributed key input for the marketing plan.

I have served as a project coordinator at a small NGO, where I supervised a team of five interns while organizing service projects and current events discussion forums at Geneva-area international schools. I regularly engaged in public speaking at our events.

Some of my first work experiences were as an ESL teacher in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and in Zenica, Bosnia. In Bosnia I taught advanced-level English classes to adults recovering from the psychological wounds of war to prepare them for the post-war, post-communist job market.
Education:
I have two Master's degrees. The most recent was an MA in International Relations with an emphasis in human rights from Webster University in Geneva, Switzerland. My thesis was on the right to food and food security in the Horn of Africa. This degree allowed me to demonstrate my aptitude for research and policy analysis in my areas of interest listed above. My other Master's degree was an MA in the Bible and Postcolonial Studies from the University of Sheffield in the United Kingdom. My thesis was a postcolonial reading of the Gospel of Mark. My Bachelor's degree was a BA in Family Ministry from Manhattan Christian College in the United States.
