Professional Experience: |
Empowering children ages 4-17 to successfully advance in their leadership ability and social justice was the start of my accomplishments. As a former U.S Peace Corps volunteer I am glad to share the following achievements while working with ERDA Foundation as a Youth Development Facilitator working on project development and implementation together with World Vision and Child Fund:
- I assisted in helping 1, 242 beneficiaries through the development of youth projects.
- My quick tenacity to learn and apply my knowledge granted me the trust of my counterparts to work independently with the following projects: 5 community savings projects, Catch-up education program, managing 2 Learning Resource Centers and Tutoring Program, and co-developing a Youth Module to help reduce child labour.
- After analyzing the projects and realizing that the youth were being neglected I was able to develop needs assessments to meet the community’s needs and involve the youth. I analyzed the function of the projects and developed strategies to maintain sustainability. Out of the 4 barangays (towns) 3 still continue the projects that were implemented.
In the Philippines the aim was to reduce child labour and as a teacher I have the ability to cultivate curiosity and love for learning within my students. As a social worker I am able to work with individuals and understand their needs holistically. As a result, my ability to assess, build rapport, empathize, and communicate with people has expanded the current kindergarten pilot program, at Globegarden Münchhalden, from having 2 kindergarten aged children in 2016 to now having 21 kindergarten aged children and an official kindergarten program.
