Professional Experience:
Throughout my professional career, I have performed various duties:
-protection analysis and response within an armed conflict to ensure human rights protection of civilians and accountability for violations of human rights and international humanitarian law;
-interviewing victims and witnesses, investigating violations in the field within an actual conflict and post-conflict missions;
-reporting and advising on compliance with the international and European human rights standards;
-field monitoring and mediation;
-large-scale post-conflict rehabilitation projects management;
-desk research on various human rights issues;
-capacity building and technical assistance.
Within my recent rapid response deployment to the Protection Cluster of the Humanitarian Team Ukraine, I was intensively engaged in contingency planning, protection gaps analysis and developing response on protection of the civilians affected by the conflict in the Eastern Ukraine. During my work in the Women’s Rights and Gender Section (ROLENDB/RRDD), I have delivered training to the judges and prosecutors in Chisinau on the international standards related to women’s right and gender equality among other tasks performed. My volunteering at the Geneva International Centre for Justice provided me with an opportunity to enhance my knowledge on human rights issues in the MENA region and specifically for civil society interventions to the Geneva-based UN mechanisms. For example, I have drafted a submission to the Human Rights Council on “Women’s Rights in Iraq”, “Arbitrary arrests and detentions, enforced disappearances in Iraq reach the threshold of crimes against humanity”. Within the Tolerance and Non-Discrimination Department of the OSCE/ODIHR, I have conducted extensive desk research and organized different high-level events in the area of freedom of religion or belief and discrimination against Muslims. The seconded mission assignment in the Balkans within the OSCE missions comprised of intensive post-conflict rehabilitation and conflict prevention activities including interviewing victims and witnesses, investigating violations, monitoring, reporting, advising, mediation and capacity building. My work in the UNDP Uzbekistan focused on bringing domestic legislation to compliance with the international human rights commitments and capacity building the law enforcement agents and civil sector.
Education:
I possess relevant academic qualifications: LL.B in International Law and LL.M in International Human Rights Law. My Oxford graduate thesis focused on qualifying the international crimes committed during 2010 events in Kyrgyzstan (inter-ethnic armed conflict) vis-à-vis the Rome Statute and identifying international remedy mechanisms for victims. Noteworthy, my thesis conclusions coincided with the findings of the Independent Commission of Inquiry published a year after the submission of my thesis. My LL.B thesis analysed international remedy mechanisms for victims of human rights violations on the territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
