Content Editor


The Technical Content Editor will be required to carry out the following tasks:
·      Edit the draft 2010 edition of the Sphere Handbook. S/he must ensure that the English text is presented in a manner that is correct, effective and easy to read without compromising the information that the authors intended (bearing in mind that the Handbook will be translated into many languages).
·      Ensure the accuracy, clarity, cohesion and conformity among the various texts and chapters in the Sphere Handbook.
·      Ensure consistency in the usage of terminology throughout the Handbook.
·      Ensure appropriate referencing is made among the chapters as well as to external sources.
·      Liaise with the Sphere Handbook Revision Coordinator and the Sphere Handbook Revision Focal Points to ensure that there is agreement on all amendments in text.
·      Collaborate with the copy-editor to ensure consistency of word usage, including acronyms, abbreviations and capitalizations, consistency of style in headlines and captions, and correct spelling and punctuation. Ensuring strict adherence to The Sphere Project’s style guide.
·       Perform other related duties as required.


The Techncial Content Editor is expected to produce a finalized version of the 2010 edition of the Sphere Handbook by 30 June 2010.
