Oak Foundation (www.oakfnd.org) commits its resources to address issues of global social and environmental concern, particularly those that have a major impact on the lives of the disadvantaged. With offices in Europe, Africa and Central and North America, Oak Foundation makes grants to organisations located in over 40 countries worldwide.

Oak Foundation seeks a dynamic, multi-talented professional Communications Officer to assist the Trustees and staff. The post has three main functions:

  • improve and maintain the intranet and external website of Oak Foundation;

  • develop systems and mechanisms (electronic and other) to keep the Trustees informed about key events, developments, grantee achievements, challenges and opportunities related to Oak’s substantive areas of grant-making; and

  • advise Trustees, President, Programme Directors and other staff on the development of communication strategies, including Oak Foundation reports and the special publications/initiatives of individual programmes.


 

Candidates must have a degree in a relevant field with a minimum of five years experience in developing and managing communications for an international organisation. Expertise with web development tools to deliver regularly updated and engaging content and style is mandatory. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • excellent online writing and editing skills;

  • strong organisational skills;

  • a track record as a creative thinker, strategist and planner;

  • the qualities of a self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision;

  • a “client-oriented” approach; be a good listener; problem-solver; and team player;

  • a fluent command of English; knowledge of other European languages is desirable;

  • an ability to work with colleagues from a variety of cultures;

  • sensitivity to the special needs of an international organisation with several sub-offices; and

  • commitment to Oak’s mission and values.
